Understanding Libra in the Zodiacal Year
Libra is the Cardinal Air sign, symbolizing a steady wind. It is technically a Masculine sign, but in practice, because it is ruled by the planet Venus, it has highly feminine aspects. Venus is the ancient Roman goddess of love, beauty, and luxury. Libra is one of two signs Venus rules, the other being Taurus.
Because of the Venusian rulership, Libras are passionate, æsthetic, and pleasure-loving — but because Libra is the Balance, they are also unselfish and fair in their desires and they generously think of how others may share in the good things of life with which they surround themselves.
