Virgo is the sixth sign of the Zodiac, which the Sun enters as the harvest begins. Represented by a Maiden holding a sheaf of grain, it is linked with decorous grace, attention to detail, and completion of tasks. Understanding Virgo in the Zodiacal Year
Virgo is the Mutable Earth sign, symbolizing cultivated ground. It is technically a Feminine sign, but because it is ruled by androgynous Mercury, it is vivacious, clean, and young, not hyper-feminized or sexual. Mercury and Hermes are ancient ancient Roman and ancient Greek gods of commerce and communication. Virgo is one of two signs Mercury rules, the other being Gemini.
Because of the Mercurial rulership, Virgo people are intelligent, capable, and detail oriented — but because Virgo is the Virgin, are also said to have a somewhat reserved emotionality, and to insist upon proper procedural protocol.
