Sagittarius is the ninth sign of the Zodiac, the sign that the Sun enters every year as Autumn turns toward Winter. Sagittarius is called “the Archer” but is represented by a Centaur, half-horse, half-man, drawing a bow, and is linked with duality, upward tendencies, and philosophy (the Centaurs were teachers). In Sagittarius, the Angels lead people from one far country to another, regulate the changes of the elements and the propagation of animals. The tarot card that signifies Sagittarius is Temperance.

Understanding Sagittarius in the Zodiacal Year
Sagittarius is the Mutable Fire sign, symbolizing flickering flames. It is a Masculine sign, ruled by the planet Jupiter, giving it expansive optimism and mental aspirations. Jupiter is the ancient Roman god of thunder, whose arrows are lightning. Sagittarius is one of two signs Jupiter rules, the other being Pisces.
Because of the Jupiterian rulership, Sagittarians are jovial and broad-minded — but because Sagittarius is both Horse and Archer, they are also said to journey far and to possess penetrating knowledge. Their worst flaw may be changeability, which is the result of their love of freedom and travel.
If You Are a Sagittarius
If you were born between November 23 and December 21, Sagittarius is your sign. You are frank and energetic, firm in your will, but you cannot always control your impatience for results. You are hasty, too, in demanding that wrongs be quickly righted. You hate petty gossip and try to instill your high ethical ideals into others.
Your mentality and spiritual energy are put to good use as you employ your personal influence for the purpose of promoting new ventures. You are unusually efficient. Your promises can be relied upon. Happy domestic life, so necessary to your well-being, provides a platform from which your philosophic thoughts take flight. Physical travels are also indicated. Your special day is Thursday.
The Sagittarius People in Your Life
The Archers seldom miss their mark when acting upon first impression, yet are most sure to meet with disappointment when following the advice of others. They have great power of concentration, do their work well, and others often marvel at the extent of their energy. While they are quick-tempered, enthusiastic, and outspoken, yet they are never meddlesome. Their minds travel like lightning to the logical conclusion, often completing a task while others are pondering over it. Being open and honest themselves, they cannot bear secrecy or deception in others. These people are odd and hard to understand, so marriage often proves unhappy.
