Hoodoo psychic readers, spirit workers and root doctors who recite Psalms on behalf of clients may work with Psalm 136 during altar work and prayers of penance. Clients who wish to confess and be cleansed of their sins may have Psalm 136 recited on their behalf to call upon the forgivness of the Lord.
