Master Sanat Kumara is an Advanced Being, at the Ninth level of initiation who is regarded as the Lord or Regent of Earth and of humanity. He is said to be the head of the Spiritual Hierarchy of Earth who dwells in Shamballah.

He is known as both The "Ancient of Days" (because he is millions of years old) and "The Youth of Sixteen Summers" (because despite his advanced age, he looks like he is 16 years old). Another of his titles is "The One Initiator" because as C. W. Leadbeater writes in the Masters and the Path, he performs the initiation ceremony for anyone who has reached the third level of spiritual initiation.

Along with Maitreya and Gautama Buddha, Master Sanat Kumara participates in an annual ritual during the week of Wesak (the full moon coinciding with the birthday of the Buddha) during which Spiritual energy is focused from the Solar Logos to Earth, with the intention of balancing our planet's cosmic energy.
