An Angelic Choir assembles on the Stairway to Heaven

Angels, called Malakhi in Hebrew, are beings of Spirit who function as the messengers of God. Archangels, known in Hebrew as Malakhi Adonai (Angels of the Lord) have dominion over them. Guardian Angels are those Angels assigned to help individual beings on Earth.

Both Christian and Jewish root doctors may call upon the direct aid of Archangels, Angels, and personal Guardian Angels for the help and protection of clients. Working with Angels is a form of Spirit Work, a term that covers a broad range of altar work and prayer as well as magical spell casting in which root doctors may contact or seek the aid of Spirits and Spirit Guides, Angels, Catholic Church Saints, or Catholic Folk Saints.

Archangels and Magical Spell Timing

According to the ancient Middle Eastern system of astrology, each day of the week is named after the angel that personifies the planet that rules that day of the week. There are only seven planets visible to the unaided eye, hence each of the seven days in the week is ruled by one of the Seven Sacred Planets, each of whom is also named as a specific Angel. These ancient attributions was preserved by Jewish and Muslim astrologers and can be found in contemporary folk magic to this day, although the names of the days of the week in English now refer to an assortment of Northern European Pagan and Neo-Pagan deities.

When it comes to spell casting, many, but not all, hoodoo rootworkers and practitioners and worldwide folk magicians time their spells to work according to the ascribed meanings of the days of the week, to increase their chances for success. Of those workers who ovserve the weekday attributions, quite a few not only call upon the English name of the chosen day's planet, but also its associated archangel. This is particularly true of those who are monotheistic Christians, Jews, Muslims, and Spiritualists who prefer not to call upon Pagan and Neo-Pagan deities, and instead associate the days with the classical Archangels.
